SPEAK OUT PM
By The Times on May 14,2007
Leader of the United Worker Party Earl Williams wants Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to break his silence on the controversial Susan Oldie issue and disclose all he knows about the matter.
In a statement released Wednesday, the UWP Leader demanded answers from the Prime Minister asking the head of the government ‘to inform the nation’ on the following issues:
1. What does he know about the Citizens for a BetterDominica Inc.? 2. The transfer of $400,000 US to that Institution. 3. Use of these funds in the campaign of the DLP in 2005 4. When did he get to know that information? 5. Why has he not been more forthcoming on this issue and have depended on Surrogates to try to shield him from addressing an issue that continues to negatively affect the integrity, truthfulness and transparency of the Office of the Prime Minister
According to Williams, the statements made by Mr Skerrit and his supporters make it clear that the matter relating to the Citizens for a better Dominic Inc. has placed the office of the Prime Minister in disrepute.
“Prime Minister Skerrit has asserted that he does not know about Citizens for a better Dominica Inc. However, Senior Counsel Tony Astaphan told us via the Hot Seat on Q95 that Prime Minister Skerrit did know about the funds, he negotiated for them and was aware that they were used for the DLP campaign in 2005.
“As the foregoing facts have shown, Prime Minister Skerrit has many questions to answer and cannot allow that matter to remain hanging over the office of the Prime Minister of Dominica.
“I call on Prime Mr Skerrit to disclose all that he knows about that matter, or launch an investigation to determine how his name could be associated with the matter by many of the surrogate of his party if he knows nothing about the entity. I trust that this matter can be put to rest finally,” the UWP Leader said in the statement.
